Tell us what makes you hometown proud:

My husband and I are proud to live in New Glasgow and to raise our family here. New Glasgow has a great sense of community spirit, a special heartbeat and character. It is a lovely riverside and tree lined town with natural beauty. There is a rich multicultural mosaic which gives our town greater dimension, both long-standing and young, creative entrepreneurs, a vibrant arts community and impressive athletics/recreation. We have both found rewarding careers here and a community that continues to evolve and make itself better. New Glasgow has small town charm but also a dash of urban style. It is a commercial and cultural centre for this part of our beautiful province with many amenities that are not often found in smaller communities. We have access to a great university, St. Francis Xavier University, and a Nova Scotia Community College campus, in neighbouring towns and New Glasgow is part of a wider region named Pictou County. Our region also has many assets and can even claim many of the world’s most beautiful beaches, including Melmerby as our own. New Glasgow and Pictou County are known for warm hospitality and the ability to stage world class events in athletics, music and the arts. The people here are humble, giving, kind, and hard-working. Ours is a place where neighbours and the community care about each other and are always willing to lend a helping hand. My mother loved New Glasgow like no other place in the world so it makes me especially happy to be able to raise my own family here. My husband, son and I are fond of travelling to many inspiring places but we always agree there is no place more special than home.

Tell us what would make your hometown even better:

Increased employment opportunities for young professionals, continued redevelopment of downtown and our riverfront, a united regional vision and more celebration of all successes would make our hometown and Pictou County even better.
